（一）、Revision. (Look and say)

1. How many seasons are there in a year? What are they?

2. Which season is it? When is autumn/summer/spring/winter?

（二）、Presentation (New vocabulary)

Ø Can you tell me something about winter?

Winter is full of snow. The white snow covers the whole earth. It is cold in winter. So the temperature drops(dropped, dropping) below zero. (above zero)

Ø What about trees and flowers in winter?

They forget to grow. (stop growing)

Ø Where do birds fly in winter?

They fly to south. (Why?) They fly far away to find a warm and sunny place.

Ø Spring comes after winter. What’s the weather like in spring?

It’s windy and bright. It’s the best time to fly kites. Flowers come out. We can see many butterflies and bees play among flowers. There are many showers in April. So butterflies and bees hide away when the April showers come.

Ø When the temperature rises, summer comes.What do you like doing in summer? (go swimming, eat ice cream) I’ll share my sweet memories with you. When I was a child, I often played by quiet streams or under the shade of trees.

Ø In autumn, leaves turn brown. They fall into piles upon(on) the ground. What are farmers busy doing?

They are busy harvesting crops. Days are shorter and shorter and the temperature drops.

2.  Discuss in groups. Play a word guessing.

1) The word rhymes with cream. It is a natural body of running water. It is a ___scream____.

2) The word rhymes with flower. It means the sudden drops of rain or snow. It is a _shower__.

3) The word rhymes with hurry. It means something that is remembered in our mind. It is the _memory_.

4) The word rhymes with grade. People can stay away from the hot sunlight in it in summer. It is _shade.

3. The sights of the seasons are very colourful. There are many poems to describe them. Today we’ll learn a poem about seasons. Let’s listen to the poem and answer some questions. (While listening, you should write down some information.)

1) Why do the birds fly away in winter?

To find a warm and sunny day.

2) Which season is a perfect time to fly kites?

Spring.

3) What are the memories of summer days about?

They are about quiet streams and trees and shades.

4) How does the weather change when autumn comes?

The leaves turn brown and the temperature drops quickly.

(Check answers in groups. Read and answer in pairs.)

1. Millie is drawing pictures of the four seasons. Help her write the correct seasons in the blanks. Then match each season with the descriptions in the poem. (B2)

2. Amy's cousin Shirley wrote down her conversation with Amy about the seasons but she made six mistakes in Amy's answers. Help her correct the mistakes. (B3) (Do it by yourself and check answers in groups.)
